Get on your bike and ride! In recognition of National Bike to Work Day, thousands of area commuters ride their bikes to work each year to demonstrate that bicycling is a healthy, practical, economical, and environmentally friendly way to get to work.
For the first time, the Carlyle Community Council will host a “pit stop” for commuter cyclists to start the day with free food, gear, and prizes from local businesses and sponsors. Prizes include gift certificates and much, much more. Carlyle’s Pit Stop is one of more than 50 pit stops throughout the Washington region.
Bike to Work Day is a free non-profit event and is open to all commuters in the Washington area. Generous sponsors, scores of bicyclists, volunteer staff, and the region’s top elected officials support this worthwhile event each year. In 2011 Bike to Work Day attracted nearly 11,000 bicyclists. You must register to get a free t-shirt and water bottle. To register please visit this link and choose ‘VA – Alexandria – Carlyle’ as your pit stop.
Participants who pre-register for a pit stop and join the festivities receive a free T-shirt, refreshments, and a chance to win bicycles and other great raffle prizes! T-Shirts are available at the pit stops and are limited to the first 11,000 who register. For more information, and questions about supporting the John Carlyle Square Park Pit Stop, contact Janet Gregor, the Property Manager for Carlyle, at 703.684.4424.
