The fair will focus on the many green practices and standards that the USPTO has adopted at its Alexandria campus, which include implementing efficient energy conservation measures; recycling paper, glass, and cans; teleworking; using public transportation; and reducing food waste through packaging.
At the fair, Patents will be displaying its green technology pilot program aimed at getting vital green technology innovations to market sooner. In addition, the Native American Bio-Fuels International Solutions, a new exhibitor, will display several of its electric vehicles utilizing wind, solar and hydro energy sources in the ongoing challenge to reduce carbon footprint.
For many parents, “going green” is about creating a healthier environment for their children and shaping their environmental conscience along the way. In that spirit, we’re partnering this year with the USPTO Child Care Development Center to display Earth Day-inspired artwork created by the children enrolled at the center.
Also, Eco-Cell, one of today’s largest cell phone recycling programs, will be at the fair collecting used cell phones. If you wish to donate used cell phones and accessories (including batteries), bring these items to the Office of Corporate Service’s booth # 13. Your donations will be forwarded to Eco-Cell and guaranteed not to wind up in a landfill. Proceeds from your donation will go to support the National Zoo.
