Weather permitting, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project will continue ramp and road closures in the Telegraph Road/Capital Beltway interchange area this weekend and next week. This work will cause significant local traffic impacts and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes. Variable message signs will be posted to alert drivers and provide detour information.

*Traffic Advisory* Road Closures – Telegraph Road Closed Tonight! & Mill Road Closed Daily

NOTE: Full list of this week’s closures follows in the next post. I wanted to highlight these two so they didn’t get lost in the shuffle.

Mill Road will be closed between Stovall Street and Telegraph Road. This is just past the Hoffman buildings in our neighborhood and goes under the Telegraph Road railroad bridge. This stretch of road is being closed off as workers continue work on expanding the railroad bridge overhead.  Detour:  Motorists should turn left on Stovall Street to right on Eisenhower Avenue to right on Mill Road to Telegraph Road.

Telegraph Road South will be completely closed between Duke Street and Huntington Avenue TONIGHT (8/21/2012) from 9:00pm to 5:00am.  Detours: Motorists traveling Duke Street West should continue to the Van Dorn interchange to Van Dorn South to Telegraph Road South.  Motorists traveling on Duke Street East should continue to U.S. Route 1 South to Huntington Avenue West to Telegraph Road South.

Good News: Capital Beltway Major Construction In Telegraph Road Interchange Is Over (Video)

Via WJLA, at the mid-point of Interstate 95, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge continues to be critical to the movement of individuals and freight along the Eastern United States from Maine to Florida.

The long-awaited (and one of the reasons I started this blog) expansion of the Capital Beltway in the Telegraph Road Interchange on the Virginia side of the bridge is here! The Beltway on the Virginia side is now five (5) lanes in either direction. Two lanes are considered ‘thru/express’ lanes and three lanes are considered ‘local’ lanes.
