I found out yesterday that the City of Alexandria has labeled the fountain an ‘aquatic facility’ and has sent notice to the Carlyle Community Council that the fountain needs to have a permit in order to be operated. Keep in mind that the fountain, which the City has known about since the park opened, has been operating for going on three years now. So, if the fountain goes off for an extended portion of time, this is probably your culprit.

NOTE: The fountain will be going off tomorrow (8/9) in preparation for a back-to-school event on Saturday (8/11) being hosted in John Carlyle Square Park by Whole Foods Market located in our Carlyle neighborhood. Look for a post on this event a little later today.
